The last day on the dock is always hectic, the boat is a mess with provisions, equipment and tools everywhere in what always feels like a hasty departure from the dock as all is readied for the transit. The chaos doesn’t represent well the many weeks of careful planning, routing and weather forecasting. Departure is bitter sweat as everything starts to come together. B-Dock has become a home over the last month with neighbors and the daily activities that make up life, feeling routine and comfortable. Sarasota has also become home these past weeks, as the experience of a life aboard has changed totally my perspective and engagement with this gulf town….I’m already missing so many things as I look ahead.

My fellow B-Dockers gathered on the dock this afternoon with a surprise sailors send off and toast. The push off from the dock feeling very real at this point….
