Atlantic Offshore – Florida Coast

Perfect day of Sailing with the wind on the beam as we push further offshore to catch the Gulf Stream.  A strong Gulf Stream (2knts+) and steady winds drive the hull North at 10+knts, great start and swift progress. Fishing gear comes out and trolling lines cast astern and the 1st 5mins brings a strong bend to one of the two poles…Fish On! Unfortunately we lose her on the way into the boat and the 10+knts we’re making was not helpful, hopefully not a sign of luck to come.

Second night aboard and perfect peace as the Keys slip by the port rail and Untethered makes 12+knts. Sky filled with stars along with a half moon, but the dull light from the islands robs half the sky from coming out.

Second full day aboard and everyone has settled into the boat and the rhythm on board. Untethered is performing well in the 18-22knt breeze and moderate seas. Perfect conditions at this point and spirits are high as we reflect on the larger crossing and make way to West Palm Beach for our last stop ashore before heading east into the Atlantic.
